The First Doctor

First Doctor

The First Doctor was a brash, stubborn, arrogant, and at sometimes, heartless Time Lord who quickly tired and forgot what he was trying to say. He often called his granddaughter, Susan a “Stupid” or “foolish girl.” He patronized his other companions with terms like “young man” and “my good lady.” Despite his arrogance, he often needed to rely on his companions to get him out of sticky situations but never thanking them sincerely.  His very unlovable nature endears him to fans although he did warm after the first season. The First Doctor’s companions included his granddaughter Susan Foreman, her schoolteachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright and later Vicki, Steven Tayler, Polly, and Ben Jackson.
